Terms of Use
Last updated: November 4, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Barbaman. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. Please read them carefully, especially the sections on prohibited items, your responsibilities and our liability.
1. What Barbaman is
Barbaman is a marketplace. We help travelers ("Travelers") and people who want something carried ("Senders") find each other, agree on a price and complete the delivery safely. Barbaman is not a courier, carrier, freight forwarder or customs broker, does not take possession of packages, and is not a party to the agreement between a Traveler and a Sender.
2. Who can use Barbaman
- You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a binding contract.
- You must give true and accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Before you post or make a deal, you must complete your profile and pass identity verification. You may only have one account.
- We may refuse, suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk.
3. Posts
Every trip and package post is reviewed by Barbaman before it is published, and we may reject or remove any post. Package posts must describe the contents honestly and state their true value ("declared value").
4. Prohibited items
You may not send or carry anything illegal in the country of departure, any transit country or the destination, or anything an airline or transport provider does not allow. This includes, without limitation:
- drugs, narcotics and controlled substances, and prescription medicine without a valid prescription in the recipient's name;
- weapons, ammunition, explosives, fireworks and their parts;
- flammable, toxic, corrosive or otherwise dangerous goods, including loose lithium batteries;
- cash, gold, precious stones, financial instruments, or items for money laundering;
- counterfeit or stolen goods, and items that infringe someone's rights;
- live animals, plants, seeds or food restricted by customs;
- anything subject to sanctions or export controls.
5. Senders' responsibilities
- Declare the contents and their true value, and pack them properly.
- Let the Traveler open and inspect the package at pickup, in your presence.
- Make sure the contents can legally be carried, imported and exported, and that any duties or taxes are handled.
- Give the delivery code only to the person receiving the package, and only share it once the package is in their hands.
6. Travelers' responsibilities
- Only accept packages you have opened, inspected and photographed in the app at pickup. You may refuse any package. Never carry something you have not checked.
- Declare items to customs where required, and follow airline and customs rules.
- Deliver the package in the agreed condition, and only complete a delivery in the app with the recipient's delivery code.
- New Travelers can only carry items up to a value limit, which increases after successful deliveries.
7. Prices, payments and fees
- Travelers and Senders agree on the price in the app. All prices are in US dollars.
- The Sender pays the agreed price when the deal is confirmed. Payment is processed by our payment provider and held until the delivery is completed and confirmed.
- Barbaman keeps a service fee of 10% of the agreed price. The Traveler receives the rest.
- A one-time identity verification fee (currently US$2) is added to each user's first deal.
- Payouts to Travelers are made through our payment provider and may require additional verification.
- You agree not to arrange payment outside the app for deals you found on Barbaman.
8. Problems and disputes
If something goes wrong, report it in the app before confirming delivery. The payment stays held while we review the deal. We will look at the information available — including photos, delivery codes and messages — and decide in good faith whether to release the payment to the Traveler, refund the Sender, or split it. Our decision on the held payment is final, but it does not limit any rights you have against the other user.
9. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post, and you give Barbaman permission to use it to run the service. Don't post anything false, illegal, offensive or that infringes others' rights.
10. Safety
Identity verification, value limits, delivery codes and post reviews reduce risk but cannot remove it. Use your judgment, meet in safe places, and don't share personal contact details before a deal is paid. Report suspicious behaviour to support@barbaman.ca.
11. Liability
To the extent permitted by law: Barbaman provides the app "as is"; we are not responsible for the acts or omissions of users, for the contents of packages, or for losses, delays, damage, seizures, fines or duties arising from a delivery; and our total liability to you for any claim related to Barbaman is limited to the fees you paid to Barbaman in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Indemnity
You agree to compensate Barbaman for claims, losses and costs caused by your breach of these terms, your violation of any law, or the items you send or carry.
13. Changes and ending your account
We may change these terms; if the changes are important, we'll tell you before they take effect. You can stop using Barbaman and ask us to close your account at any time. Deals already in progress must still be completed or resolved.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Canada and of the province where Barbaman is established, and disputes will be handled by the courts there, unless the law where you live gives you the right to use your local courts.
